Since most outfitters do not carry products that cater to the snowboarder, surf and skate market, volcom backpacks are not very easily located as the other more popular brand name backpacks. You can go to the slopes for a day of skiing, of just hang out with friends, and you can be sure that your backpack is adequate to hold your board, your gear and helmet for your day outdoors or to carry your books for school.
The special design of this backpack include a back panel that is padded, and has adjustable straps so you can carry your load well supported and in comfort; a strap at the sternum allows you to hold your load close to your chest. The backpacks are constructed with a liner of fleece that contains a pocket for music accessories, and contains an audio port with zippers to allow safe keeping of your tunes, but also keeps them easily accessible. A hidden zippered cell phone compartment is built into the strap making for easy access, and there are side zippered pockets on the backpack for loose items that need to be carried.
In some of these backpacks, a rear padded compartment can hold a laptop that is up to fifteen inches, and also contains as many as eight separate compartments to carry personal belongings. An additional 5 compartments and a back panel that is molded and provides added comfort, can be found in some units.
It was back in 1991 that Tucker Hall and Richard Woolcott started the Volcom brand. It was on their snowboarding trip to Tahoe that they decided to meet the needs of others, who enjoyed rigorous pastimes like theirs, by starting a clothing company to provide the things they needed to support their passion for snowboarding.
The idea of Volcom came out of the concept of “youth against establishment”, since at the time of the company’s beginning, the sports of skateboarding and snowboarding were not looked at favorably in the US because of the first war in the Gulf, the LA riots, Nirvana, and the changes in the music industry brought about by the pearl jam influence.
